The Denver Broncos cut mercurial running back Travis Henry, with coach Mike Shanahan saying Monday the move was more about Henry’s personality than his play. “He’s just too inconsistent as a person. When you’re too inconsistent as a person, you usually aren’t going to win championships,” Shanahan said during a spring workout later in the day.
Broncos Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Selvin Young is out to make a splash this season.
He has already predicted he can get 2,000 yards this season, a lofty goal for a player with 729 yards in his NFL career. First of all, he has to lock up the starting tailback spot, but he feels it is his to lose.
“In my mind, I feel that way,” Young said. “Whenever it’s etched in stone, I hope I’m going to be the guy that’s going to be leading.”
Young has spent the offseason as the starter. When Travis Henry was released, there was no doubt Young was atop the depth chart. He took every snap as the No. 1 tailback in the offseason camps.
Young still has some questions. He bulked up to 211 pounds this offseason, but that still isn’t very big for a workhorse back.
